Saw palmetto is a leafy plant and grows along the coast of the United States.
Its dark, ripe fruit can be used as medicine
Saw Palmetto has diuretic properties. It does this by inhibiting the sodium/potassium symporter on the loop of Henle in the kidneys.
Also, Saw Palmetto can inhibit the action of the enzyme (testosterone-5-alpha- reductase) that turns testosterone into dihydrotestosterone.
Saw Palmetto is thought to be an anti-inflammatory chemical. Saw Palmetto interrupts the inflammation process by stopping the signaling cascade at toll-like receptor 2.
